Malaysia faces a pressing cardiovascular health challenge: patients present with heart disease nearly eight years earlier than the global average and 4 in 10 adults have high cholesterol—yet it remains the least diagnosed among major risk factors. Despite the availability of high-intensity statins and validated tools like the Framingham CV Risk Score, LDL-C control remains suboptimal, with only 17.1% of diabetic patients on lipid-lowering therapy. These gaps in awareness, diagnosis, and sustained treatment underscore the urgency for a new public health narrative.
The Unblocked Malaysia microsite, launched in April 2025, enriches ongoing efforts to raise public awareness and drive positive action toward better ASCVD understanding and care. By reframing cardiovascular risk as visible and actionable and providing tools such as a risk estimator and risk checklist, it empowers patients and healthcare professionals to better understand their individualized cardiovascular risk. This also supports strategic partnerships with key stakeholders (hospital partners, media) to amplify outreach and reinforce national health goals.
